Voice

On voice calls, BrightMind talks out loud in a voice you pick. You can change which voice it uses and how fast it speaks at any time, and the choice sticks across every future call, in both scheduled calls and ones you start yourself.

A live call is a two-way conversation: BrightMind talks and listens, and you respond out loud in real time. Dictate is one-way input: you speak a message into a text conversation and read the reply instead of hearing it.

A call happens inside the conversation you are already in. The call button sits in the composer (the microphone there is Dictate), so starting one does not take you to a separate screen, and everything said out loud lands in that same thread as ordinary messages you can scroll back through afterwards.

If a call ends unexpectedly, the conversation does not stop there. It continues in text in the same conversation. Find it later under Conversations and pick up where the call left off.

Call time comes out of a weekly allowance that refills every Monday in your time zone, and each plan also sets how long one call can run. When a call reaches that length it ends, and you can start another one if you have call time left. A call needs a minimum amount of call time left to start. The details are in Free vs Plus.

Voice recognition quality varies. Accent, background noise, and the language you speak all affect how accurately BrightMind understands you. If a call keeps missing what you say, try a quieter spot, or type your message instead.

Open Settings → Voice and swipe through the roster. The voice you land on is selected and plays a short sample; tap it to hear the sample again. Use the slider below to set the speaking speed, anywhere from a relaxed pace to brisk. Each pick is saved right away and applies the next time you talk.
