Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about where and how you can use BrightMind.
Do I need Todoist or TickTick to start?
No. BrightMind has its own built-in tasks, and onboarding selects them by default. You can save and find tasks before you connect anything. If you already use Todoist, TickTick or Google Tasks, you can connect it in Settings > Integrations so new tasks go to your existing lists.
What should I say in my first conversation?
Start with one thing on your mind, even if it feels messy. For example: "I need to clean my room, but I don't know where to start. Help me choose one small step." If a step feels useful, ask BrightMind to save it as a task. The getting started guide walks through a full first use.
Where did BrightMind save my task?
It goes to the task manager that is active when you ask: BrightMind's built-in tasks, or the connected app you selected. One task manager is active at a time, and switching the selection does not move old tasks. If you cannot find a task, check the day you chose and which task manager is active.
How is Dictate different from a voice call?
Dictate turns your spoken words into text in a conversation, so you can review and edit before sending. A voice call is a live conversation you talk through in real time, and the reply comes back as speech. A call uses your weekly call time and ends when it reaches the longest call your plan allows.
Can BrightMind contact me later?
Yes. Ask for an automation and BrightMind reaches out on its own at the time you set, as a message or a call, once or on repeat. A morning check-in and a Friday review of your week are common ones. Onboarding offers to set up a daily check-in, and you can skip it. Tasks with reminders can also send you a notification.
What are automations?
An automation is work you ask for once that then happens on its own: a daily check-in, a report of your week every Friday, a call on Sunday evening to plan the week. You create, change, pause or stop one by asking in a conversation. Each run that has something to say sends you a notification and opens a new conversation with the result.
Why didn't my reminder or call arrive?
The most common causes are a notification permission that is off, a reminder saved without a time, a scheduled call that was suggested but never confirmed as saved, or an automation that was paused or turned off after repeated failures. The troubleshooting guide has a short checklist for each case.
What does BrightMind remember and can I see it?
BrightMind learns context from your conversations and shows a short written summary in Settings > Personalization > Memory summary, generated when you open it and refreshed at most daily. The summary is what BrightMind has picked up, not everything it knows, so details can be missing or out of date. Your past conversations are stored separately and stay searchable.
How do I tell it to answer differently?
Write custom instructions in Settings > Personalization, up to 2000 characters. This is where you describe how you want BrightMind to respond, for example giving one next step at a time. It applies to how BrightMind replies, separate from what it remembers about you.
Can I use BrightMind on a laptop or desktop computer?
Not yet. BrightMind is a mobile app for iPhone and Android, so it can't be used from a browser on a laptop or computer. A web version is on the roadmap.
What is included in Free and Plus?
Both plans include conversations, tasks, integrations, memory and voice calls, with a weekly allowance of messages and call time that refills every Monday in your time zone. Plus gives you bigger allowances, and a few features, like scheduled calls, can be part of Plus only. The offer in the app shows the current terms.
How do I disconnect an app or delete my data?
Disconnect a connected app in Settings > Integrations. Your BrightMind account needs no email or password and can stay anonymous. Deleting your account, deleting a conversation, and disconnecting an app are different actions with different results, so the account guide explains each one.
How do I report a problem or restore a purchase?
Email stan@brightmind.club or use Discord from Settings, and describe what you did and what happened. A conversation with BrightMind is not automatically a support request, so contacting the team directly is the reliable path. For purchases, restore them through your app store, and the plans guide explains where to start.
